Farolito Walk on Canyon Road

Farolito

Canyon Road offers one of Santa Fe’s more attended Christmas tradition, the Farolito Walk. Every year on Christmas Eve Canyon Road is lined with glowing farolitos. Thousands of people will stroll through the street drinking hot coco, bouncing from fire to fire admiring the beauty of Canyon Road at Christmas time.

Canyon Road is known for world class galleries and restaurants but the area is never as special as it is when it is lined with farolitos. A farolito is brown paper bag filled with sand and a candle. Farolito is Spanish for “little lantern,” which is a literal translation for what the glowing bags are.  This is a tradition that you can not find anywhere else in the world. It is one that adds to how special Santa Fe is during the Holidays.
